To be entitled to Social Security Disability (SSD) benefits, the standard generally is the inability to work full-time. However, some people with disabilities are willing and able to work part-time. In these cases, it does not necessarily mean that one cannot collect SSD benefits.
It is important to note that you cannot tailor your earnings in order to qualify for Social Security Disability benefits. If you are able to work full-time, performing substantial, gainful activity, you must do so. You cannot reduce your work hours to part-time for the purpose of collecting more SSD benefits.
